Interested in rowing with uOttawa? Check out our FAQ!
Prospective rowers require little to no experience to tryout for the novice team. Fill out the form below or send an email to email@example.com for more information. Alternatively, visit our recruitment table during 101 Week!
Varsity team tryouts are open to rowers with competitive experience. All prospective varsity rowers are expected to attend the mandatory Varsity Training Camp. Expectations for varsity rowing go beyond practice on the water to include weight training, fitness, diet, and general health. Aspiring athletes may use the Club Elite Levels established by RCA as general guidelines for performance, but expected scores will vary from year to year and will be at the discretion of the coaches. Other attributes will also be assessed during Training Camp including, but not limited to, on-water proficiency and commitment.
Prospective varsity athletes should also send an inquiry email to firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible.
Novice and varsity rowers should take note that university rowing is a high commitment sport, with six morning practices held Monday to Saturday at the Ottawa Rowing Club. Our season is relatively short and runs from September to November. However, training continues during the winter season with athletes following structured training programs in the gym and on the ergometer.
Team members are required to attend all practices, meetings, regattas, boat loadings/unloadings, and other team functions.*
The Geegees Rowing program is an elite program that has produced outstanding athletes at the national and international level! Be part of the uOttawa legacy and become a Geegees rower this season!
